Press Release – San Mateo County Labor Council Endorses Mark Nagales for South San Francisco City Council

August 14, 2018 by Mark Nagales for City Council

The San Mateo County Labor Council has officially endorsed Mark Nagales for South San Francisco City Council. The San Mateo County Central Labor Council represents the unions and their members that live and work in San Mateo County.

“I am honored to have the support of the San Mateo County Labor Council,” said Mark Nagales. “The hard-working men and women of Labor will always have a friend in me. I will fight for fair wages, affordable housing, and to advance the rights of all workers, making sure the needs and concerns of Labor are always heard. Our grassroots campaign continues to gain momentum. This endorsement by the Labor Council, along with my previous endorsements, are an indicator of our wide-ranging support. I will always fight for you!”

As a South San Francisco Planning Commissioner, Mark has been a staunch supporter of Labor. He has consistently advocated for affordable housing units in the form of Below-Market Rates (BMR’s) and pushed for strong wages.

The San Mateo County Labor Council is the first union organization to publicly endorse Mark. He has previously been endorsed by Congresswoman Jackie Speier; State Senators Jerry Hill and Scott Wiener; Assemblymembers Kevin Mullin & Phil Ting; San Mateo County Supervisors Carole Groom, Don Horsley, Dave Pine, Warren Slocum; former California State Assemblymember Gene Mullin; former South San Francisco Mayors Pedro Gonzalez and John Penna, all members of the South San Francisco Unified School Board, Parks and Recreation Commission, and Library Board; and a growing list of South San Francisco residents, business owners, and community leaders.

Mark Nagales has lived in South San Francisco for over 30 years, where he and his wife Amy are raising their two young children, Aidan and Josephine. A dedicated public servant, Mark Nagales is an experienced community leader who brings his public service experience from working on the Federal, State and local levels. As Constituent Services Director for Congresswoman Jackie Speier and a Senior Aide to former California State Assemblymember Gene Mullin, Mark has worked tirelessly to help seniors, veterans, families, and children, including recovering over $5 million in veterans’ benefits.
