As a Parks and Recreation Commissioner, I know how important it is to have well-maintained fields and affordable services. When I was Chair in 2013, we were able to renovate two parks, Westborough and Orange Park. I spearheaded the now-popular Movie in the Park, where families can enjoy outdoor movies under the stars in Orange Park.
Playing baseball in South San Francisco taught me the important lessons of teamwork, working hard, and persevering. As a parent, my two children now enjoy many of the activities that Park and Rec provide, including childcare. There is currently a 3-4 year waiting list for preschool. I had to sign up my children as soon as they were born.
As a Councilmember, I will work to ensure that families will have the opportunity to access early childhood education, keep Parks and Recreation fees reasonable and our fields in pristine shape.
I’m happy to have the endorsement of the entire South San Francisco Parks and Recreation Commission (Chair Sean Garrone, Vice Chair Betty Battalia, Secretary Richard Holt, Kristy Camacho, Eddie Flores, Bill Lock, & Robert Uy), along with San Mateo County Parks and Recreation Commissioners Marco Enriquez and Basem Manneh.
